I want to share with you my experience about buying a bike.
I studied MTBegypt nice article about how to choose a bike and found it very useful, here is the link for other riders. http://mtbegypt.com/begginers/buying-a-m...n-in-egyp/
So I decided to go to one of the famous chain of bicycle shops, the Heliopolis branch . I asked for prices and found out there is a branch in Rehab city, closer to my home. So on Saturday, 10.12.2011 I visited the shop in Rehab. What I liked there the most , is that in front of the shop, ( despite it is relatively small) there is a large area where you can try out the bike. while discussing the price I informed the branch manager I will need an invoice for my company. I chose 2 pcs Carraro Daytona 436 for EGP6900,- each. The next day I checked their website and found they have their prices listed on line. In the evening I visited the shop again, chose an additional one namely Gitane Rock for EGP6300,-, paid the EGP20.100,- in cash and asked for the invoice for the 3 bicycles. I was told , the bike will be delivered to my home the next day together with the invoice. As agreed , the bicycles were delivered , but together with a simple receipt, and not with an invoice. I have been trying with them for over a week, and they refuse to hand me over any invoice for the sum I paid. In case I need an official invoice, they ask for an extra 10%. I see this a clear rip off!! And Tax Fraud!!
All proper companies have invoices, simple mobile phone invoices include a sales tax, same with hotel, car, and motorcycle invoices,..etc. no one asks for an extra 10%.
I don’t know if anybody can help me on this, but I thought I should share this unacceptable business behavior with fellow riders.

Folks,

I'm a beginner to the sport, but I think from what I saw till now that I'm gonna go all the way in it.

I'm currenlty looking into buying my first MTB, looked into the market and on the internet and over whelmed with the details.

My budget is around LE 5,000 plus or minus, and I'd like some professional advice on what to buy especially that I think I'll be frequent off roader.

The brands I've seen in the Egyptian market so far are:
- Gitane
- Bianchi
- Carraro
- Orbea

There's one particular bike that grabbed my attention, Orbea Cool Flow (http://www.orbea.com/int-en/bicis/modelos/cool_flow/).

I'm seeking your advice on the above particular bike and any other you think can suit me.

I am selling those clipless pedals. The one on the left is Shimano PD-M505 and on the right is Wellgo WPD-823 (there is a pair of each, of course).

Asking L.E. 180 for the Wellgo and L.E. 230 for the Shimano. Both brand new in original packaging and include cleats. The Wellgo is Shimano SPD compatible and also has adjustable tension like the Shimano, so both are great if you're new to clipless. If interested please send me a message or email.

SOLD!

I always saw value in the idea of having at least something to protect the exposed bit of the internal sliding shafts of air forks and rear air shocks from rocks and/or falls; one scratch or ding on them and you're in trouble.

a[Hi everyone -

I am going home for the holidays and coming back in February. I have a Cannondale Prophet mountain bike back home, which I am planning to sell. There is a chance I could bring it with me in February to sell here in Egypt. I know it is hard to get bikes here, so this would be my way of helping at least one person out. Before I decide to bring it or not, I just want to know if someone would actually buy it. I don't have photos of mine. This is the original information for the model: Prophet 1000

There are some differences, but very minor (like different grips, tires, pedals). The Lefty fork looks odd at first, but it is very strong and reliable. You can check reviews.

This bike sells used startign at $1,000 in the U.S. I would want to get a little more because of the cost and effort to get it to Egypt. Maybe $1,200. I could even include a nice XC helmet!

Anyway, let me know if anyone out there is interested so I can make plans.
